What’s under our Retaining Walls?

Our retaining walls are built with a solid foundation. We start by installing an 8 to 12-inch layer of compacted base material as a footer. Next, we level the base layer for the blocks. We then install a drain pipe behind the bottom layer of blocks and incorporate wall drains. As we stack the blocks, we backfill with 3/4 inch gravel to a depth of 1 to 2 feet. Finally, we secure the cap blocks to the wall using high-quality adhesive.

Find the Best Solution for Your Retaining Wall System Needs

From our initial consultation to the final inspection, we guide you through every step of the retaining wall process, ensuring a smooth and successful project that adds value to your property.
Step 1: Initial Consultation and On-Site Assessment

We start with a visit to your property to understand your needs. Whether you’re dealing with soil erosion or want to create usable space on a slope, we’ll listen to your concerns, style preferences, and budget. Our team will then assess the site, checking the soil, drainage, and landscape to determine the best retaining wall solution for you.

Once we’ve assessed your property and discussed your needs, we’ll provide a detailed proposal outlining the project scope, materials, estimated timeline, and cost. This ensures transparency before moving forward. After you review and approve the proposal, we’ll sign a contract to confirm the agreement. With everything finalized, we’ll proceed to the design and planning phase.

Once the contract is signed, we’ll begin developing a detailed design that aligns with your vision and property needs. The design will focus on the overall layout and structure to ensure both functionality and aesthetic appeal. We’ll work closely with you throughout this process to ensure the design meets your expectations and is ready for the next steps.
We’ll help you pick the best materials for your retaining wall, focusing on strength, looks, and your budget. You can choose from options like Belgard and Gravity Stone, natural stone, or concrete blocks. Once you’ve made your choices, we’ll get the materials and have them delivered to your site on time.
Before we start construction, we’ll assess the site to find the best access points for our equipment. If needed, we’ll work with neighbors or local authorities. Then, we’ll plan the delivery of equipment like excavators, compactors, and trucks with materials, making sure there’s minimal disruption to your property and the surrounding area.
We’ll carefully dig the area for the retaining wall, making sure there’s proper drainage and a strong foundation. This might involve digging a trench for the wall’s base and setting up drainage systems to prevent water from building up behind the wall and to keep the structure stable.
After the wall is built, we’ll backfill the area behind it with the right materials, making sure it’s properly compacted and drained. Then, we’ll grade the surrounding area to create a smooth, functional, and visually appealing surface.
Once the project is finished, we’ll do a detailed final inspection to make sure the retaining wall meets safety and design standards. Then, we’ll walk you through the completed work, explain any maintenance needs, and answer any remaining questions you might have.

If you're dealing with slopes, soil erosion, or simply want to define your landscape better, a retaining wall can be an excellent solution.
Building codes and rules vary by location, so it's important to check with your local municipality to see if you need a permit for your project. We can also assist you in understanding and navigating the permitting process, if needed.
The time it takes to install a retaining wall depends on the size, complexity, materials used, and site conditions. Smaller projects may take a few days, while larger or more complex ones could take a week or more. We’ll give you a clear timeline after the initial consultation and keep you updated along the way.
Yes, you can plant vegetation on or around your retaining wall to enhance its look and add stability. However, it's important to choose plants with shallow roots so they don’t put pressure on the wall. We can suggest suitable plants for your project.
If you're worried about the stability of an existing retaining wall, feel free to reach out to us. Our team can inspect the wall to assess its condition and identify any issues. We can then recommend solutions like repairs, reinforcement, or replacement.
